Barcelona lose another wonderkid to ACL injury as Sama Nomoko ruled out for 12 months

Barcelona have lost another promising youngster to a serious injury after confirming that teenage star Sama Nomoko will miss a year after undergoing ACL surgery.

Nomoko has been likened to Lamine Yamal and tipped to make the breakthrough at Barcelona in the future but now faces a long spell on the sidelines.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“Barça Atlètic player Sama Nomoko underwent successful surgery on Tuesday for a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, with associated injury to both menisci of the same knee, which occurred during the last UEFA Youth League match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

“The procedure was performed at the Hospital of Barcelona and was carried out by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, under the supervision of the Club’s Medical Services.

“The expected recovery time will be about 12 months.”

Barcelona are sadly no stranger to ACL injuries, with Gavi and Marc Bernal having been sidelined for long periods after undergoing similar issues.

Barca Atletic are also currently struggling with serious issues and have seen promising talents such as Oscar Gistau, Xavi Espart, Landry Farre and Ibrahima Diarra all sidelined for long periods this season.

It’s a huge blow for the winger and we wish him all the best for the future. Let’s hope he makes a full recovery and he can get back on track once he returns to action.
