Barcelona confirm injured Xavi Espart ruled out for 8-10 weeks

Barcelona have confirmed that young defender Xavi Espart has indeed suffered a knee injury and is facing a spell on the sidelines.

The teenager picked up the problem in training while on international duty and won’t be back for a couple of months.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“Barça Atlètic player Xavi Espart has an injury to the internal collateral ligament of his right knee, which occurred during the last training camp with the Spanish U19 team. The expected recovery time will be between 8 and 10 weeks.”

The news is a real setback for club and player and comes at a time when he was regularly training with the first-team and looked to definitely be in Hansi Flick’s thoughts.

However, he now faces a significant spell on the sidelines and won’t be back in action for Barcelona until next year. Let’s wish him a swift and full recovery.
