Barcelona’s next match is against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League in a fixture Hansi Flick’s side really need to win if they want to secure automatic qualification to the next round.
The Catalan giants warmed up for the game in some style by smashing Real Betis to extend their lead at the top of the table in Spain ahead of Real Madrid’s game with Celta Vigo on Sunday.
However, it was a different story entirely for their next opponents. Eintracht Frankfurt were at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Saturday and ended up on the wrong end of a 6-0 hammering.
Goals from Conrad Harder and Christoph Baumgartner put Leipgiz 2-0 up after half an hour. Yan Diomande then bagged a hat-trick in the second half, while a penalty from David Raum saw Frankfurt concede six times.
“We were simply far too bad today. We defended poorly and made it far too easy for Leipzig,” said sporting director Markus Krösche after the match on Sky Sport “We’re making too many simple errors and then it’s just not enough.”
Frankfurt now head to Camp Nou for another daunting fixture in a game which promises plenty of goals.
