‘Not my problem’ – Hansi Flick quizzed on whether Lamine Yamal will be called up by Spain

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was once again grilled on Lamine Yamal’s fitness ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Club Brugge.

The teenager has been struggling with discomfort caused by pubalgia but Flick says he’s been looking very good in training. Flick was also asked if Yamal would be called up by Spain but didn’t want to get involved in another club vs country row.

“It’s not my problem if he goes with the National Team. He is training very, very well, it is not a question of saying if he is already 100% recovered because it is a process. But he’s fine and can play,” he told reporters.

Flick also looked ahead to the game and stressed the importance of his players having the right attitude against Club Brugge on Wednesday night.

“They have taller players than us. But this isn’t a problem; the important thing is attitude. It won’t be a problem. I think it will be a similar match to the one we played the other day against Elche; there will be good moments and not-so-good ones. It’s important for them to play at home, and they’ll want to put on a good performance,” he added.

“I said it before. The match will be difficult. Every match is. The players’ mentality and attitude is focused on playing well and not losing possession. Against Elche, we took a big step forward. We saw that Lewandowski could play and contribute. It was positive. He trained well today as well. The players have very good quality.”

Barcelona beat Olympiacos last time out in the Champions League and will be hoping for another win on Wednesday before their next game in the competition against Chelsea.
