Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal has revealed manager Hansi Flick urged him to make the most of his friendly appearance for Catalunya on Tuesday in a charity match with Palestine.
The youngster played the first 45 minutes of the game at Montjuic, with Flick spotted in the stands watching the midfielder enjoy some rare game time.
Bernal spoke to reporters after the match and revealed how he’s been trying to get into match rhythm.
“Yes, he told me to make the most of today’s match,” he told reporters.
“We also played a match on Thursday, mainly so that I could feel better, get into rhythm, and that’s what I did, making the most of it.
“It was really special. I’ve been lucky enough to play for the Under-12s and Under-16s, and now to play for the senior team today, after so many years and the way we’ve done it, I’m really proud.”
Bernal has only made five substitute appearances this season for Barca. We’ll have to wait and see if he’s able to see more game time when domestic action resumes this weekend after the international break.
