Hector Fort faced his parent club on Sunday as he came on as a second-half substitute for Elche against Barcelona at Montjuic.
The defender left in the summer, after growing frustrated at a lack of game time under Hansi Flick, but was spotted chatting with the Barcelona boss after the final whistle.
He was quizzed about the meeting with Flick in a television interview and had some generous words for the Barcelona boss.
“A game like this is special: the first time I play against Barça. We have given everything we had, we are doing well and continue to add,” he told DAZN.
“Hansi is a close person who cares. That’s what he did: he asked me about the last injury and if I was happy. I would like to thank Hansi for his interest.”
Fort was also asked what it was like to come up against his good friend Lamine Yamal.
“I don’t see Lamine like everyone else: I see him as my friend, we shared a lot of things and I was excited to play on the left to have him in front of me and I didn’t come out badly,” he added.
“I caught him a little tired, I guess. I was with that little extra motivation in front of my people, my friends and my teammates.”
Fort has now made four appearances for Eder Sarabia’s side this season and will be hoping he can enjoy regular game time during the 2025-26 campaign.
