Andreas Christensen returns to Barcelona training ahead of Club Brugge clash

Andreas Christensen was back in Barcelona training on Monday as Hansi Flick’s side began preparations for their Champions League trip to Club Brugge.

The Denmark international has been out with illness and then picked up a foot problem but has now recovered and is expected to be in the squad for Wednesday’s game.

Christensen’s return will be a boost for Flick who revealed that Pau Cubarsi didn’t feature against Elche as he’d had a few issues in the build-up to the game.

“Cubarsi had some problems and missed a day of training. And we have Ronald, Eric, Pau… great center-backs who can play,” he told reporters.

“Eric has taken a fantastic step forward. I told him after scoring the third goal. He is always very focused. He wants to do everything well. You have to feel it and be positive. Working with him and counting on him is very good.”

Flick was also able to welcome Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo back at the weekend, as the team’s injury problems start to slowly ease.
