Alejandro Balde leaps to defence of Lamine Yamal after Barcelona beat Elche

Alejandro Balde jumped to the defence of Barcelona team-mate Lamine Yamal after Sunday’s 3-1 win over Elche in La Liga.

Yamal scored the opening goal in the game as Barcelona returned to winning ways after defeat to Real Madrid last time out.

Barcelona’s teenage star has made plenty of headlines in recent weeks, but Balde thinks his exploits aren’t always appreciated as much as they should be.

“It is true that he is always in the spotlight, but I think Lamine is a great professional despite his young age,” he told the media.

“What he’s doing at just 18 years old is incredible. Sometimes people don’t appreciate it as much as they should. At this age, what he’s doing is indescribable.”

Yamal has been suffering from discomfort in recent weeks caused by pubalgia, something manager Hansi Flick has confirmed is still causing him discomfort occasionally and that the teenager is learning to manage.
