Drug-Free Tennessee Wraps Successful Summer Youth Camps, Expands Prevention Efforts Through Statewide Conferences

Nashville, TN, Jul 28, 2026, ZEX PR WIRE  After a summer of reaching hundreds of young people through sports camps led by professional athletes, Drug-Free Tennessee is continuing its mission to educate youth before they are exposed to drugs by expanding its outreach to educators, school resource officers, and community leaders across Tennessee.

Over the summer, Drug-Free Tennessee participated in four youth football camps, where children learned football fundamentals from professional players while also receiving Truth About Drugs educational booklets to take home. The events combined athletic inspiration with life-saving prevention education, giving young people factual information about the harmful effects of drugs in an engaging and positive environment.

“Summer camps provide an incredible opportunity to reach youth with accurate information at a time when they are building confidence, making friends, and developing the skills they’ll carry into adulthood,” said Julie Brinker, Ambassador of Drug-Free Tennessee. “By partnering with respected athletes and community volunteers, we’re able to help young people make informed decisions that can positively shape their futures.”

The organization’s efforts will continue throughout the remainder of the year with a series of conferences and educational events focused on strengthening drug prevention throughout the state. Drug-Free Tennessee is scheduled to participate in conferences attended by educators, school administrators, prevention specialists, and school resource officers, providing free educational materials and resources designed to help adults effectively discuss drug prevention with the young people they serve.

Drug-Free Tennessee is the Tennessee chapter of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, a nonprofit public benefit organization dedicated to empowering youth and adults with factual, science-based information about drugs so they can make informed decisions. The Foundation’s award-winning Truth About Drugs materials have been used in communities around the world and include booklets, educator guides, public service announcements, documentaries, and online courses.

One of the organization’s guiding principles is that prevention is most effective before experimentation begins. By providing clear, factual information about the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug use, the program helps young people recognize the risks and make healthy choices.

All Truth About Drugs educational materials are provided free of charge to schools, community organizations, law enforcement agencies, youth groups, parents, and individuals who wish to educate others. Drug-Free Tennessee encourages anyone interested in hosting a presentation, obtaining educational booklets, or partnering on a community event to request materials and learn more about the program.

“Every young person deserves the facts before they’re faced with the decision,” Brinker said. “When communities work together to educate and empower youth, we create stronger, healthier, and safer futures for everyone.”
