Barcelona’s stance on Marc Bernal loan revealed amid Girona interest

Barcelona are reportedly not interested in loaning out midfielder Marc Bernal in the January transfer window amid interest from Girona.

The 18-year-old is back to full fitness this season after a long spell out injured but has been used carefully by Hansi Flick so far in the 2025-26 campaign.

His situation has sparked talk of a move but Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona have “completedly ruled out” the possibility of Bernal going out on loan.

Barcelona are instead hoping that Bernal can play more of a role in the second half of the season and feel that he’s progressing well after making his return from a long lay-off.

Bernal certainly impressed in his most recent outings for Barcelona and will certainly be hoping for a more prominent role as the campaign progresses.

Competition for places in midfield is fierce at Barcelona, but the team’s injuries in the first half of the season have served to highlight again the importance of squad depth.
