Jules Kounde asks Hansi Flick for position switch at Barcelona after Ronald Araujo ruled out

Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has reportedly asked Hansi Flick if he can play at center-back after seeing Ronald Araujo ruled out for the time being.

Araujo has been granted a temporary leave of absence in the wake of his red card against Chelsea, and it’s not clear yet when he will return to action.

According to Cope’s Helena Condis, the situation has seen Kounde ask about the possibility of him switching from right back to a central role. Condis has said: “He has spoken with Flick, he wants to play as a center-back. This conversation took place after the Araújo incident.”

Kounde has been converted to a full-back during his time at Barcelona, but it looks like he’s still keen on playing in his preferred position in the middle.

It’s not known yet what Flick thinks of Kounde’s suggestion, with the Barca boss having recently taken to partnering Gerard Martin with Pau Cubarsi in central defence.

Flick also has Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen available to play in central defence, although Eric is also an option to take over from Kounde at right-back.

What do you think of Kounde’s suggestion? Would you like to see the Frenchman back in the middle? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
