Loan watch: Hector Fort’s good form continues with two assists against Girona

Barcelona loanee Hector Fort bagged his first goal for Elche last time out in the Copa del Rey and has followed that up by grabbing two assists in a 3-0 win over Girona in La Liga on Sunday.

German Valera gave Elche the lead after a great piece of play by Elche that featured a neat flick from Fort to send the winger through to smash a low shot home.

Fort’s second assist was for Rafa Mir to make it 2-0. The defender surged down the right flank and fed the ball to the overlapping Mir. He then smashed a shot across goal that beat the goalkeeper at his near post.

There was praise for Fort from manager Eder Sarabia for his performance. He told reporters: “He’s young and hasn’t played this often in recent years. He’s still maturing. He’s doing well.”

Barcelona will be delighted to see Fort thriving at Elche and will be hoping he can enjoy a great season with Sarabia’s side before he returns to Catalunya in the summer.
