Marc Bernal wanted on loan by Girona in January transfer window

Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal is reportedly wanted by Girona on loan in the January transfer window.

Reporter Nil Sola has told Catalunya Radio that Bernal has emerged as a target for Michel’s side this winter.

“One of the players that Girona would really like, and that is an option, but it remains to be seen whether it ends up happening, is Marc Bernal. If the loan option is open, it would be very interesting to repeat a formula like the one used with Eric Garcia a few seasons ago,” he said.

Bernal is back from a long injury lay-off this season and is slowly starting to accumulate more minutes under Hansi Flick at Barcelona.

The youngster played the final half an hour against Real Betis on Saturday and has now made eight appearances in all competitions for Barca in 2025-26.

There has been speculation that Bernal will be handed more of a role from January, after building up match fitness, and that he can start to challenge for a place in the first team.

However, a loan offer from Girona may well complicate matters. It would offer Bernal the chance for more regular game time, but it’s not known if the player or the club would be willing to sanction such a move.
