Andreas Christensen’s wife has hit back at a claim that the Barcelona defender refused to come on as a substitute last season in the Champions League defeat to Inter.
Author Sebastian Staszewski has written a biography about Robert Lewandowski and said in his book that Hansi Flick wanted Christensen to come on in the closing stages of the game, but the Dane did not want to as his back hurt.
Christensen’s wife Katrine Friis has reacted to the news on social media. On an Instagram post showing the story she has replied: “Wow people will write anything for attention.”
It’s not the only big claim from the book so far. Staszewski has also written about how Lewandowski was asked to stop scoring goals in Barca’s final two matches of the season so as to avoid paying an extra bonus to Bayern Munich.
Staszewski has since been quizzed further on the story about Lewandowski and told Sport: “It is a shocking story, I understand that it has generated so much surprise. This kind of thing doesn’t happen in football every day. I confirmed this with three sources.
“I can’t tell you who was in that office when Lewy was asked not to score any more goals. But Laporta was not there. There were important people. It’s shocking and it was for Robert, he’d never had this kind of request. He is a goalscorer and everyone asks him to score, not not not to do it.”
