Lamine Yamal one of five Barcelona stars named in Spain squad for World Cup qualifiers

Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has called up Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Dani Olmo, Fermín Lopez and Ferran Torres for the team’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Turkey.

There had been speculation that Barcelona didn’t want Yamal to be in the squad, as he is still struggling with discomfort caused by pubalgia, but he’s on the list for the two games and is likely to feature.

Here’s the squad in full.

Goalkeepers: Unai Simon, David Raya, Alex Remiro

Defenders: Aymeric Laporte, Dani Vivian, Alejandro Grimaldo, Marcos Llorente, Marc Cucurella, Pau Cubarsi, Dean Huijsen, Pedro Porro.

Midfielders: Fabian Ruiz, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Aleix Garcia, Pablo Barrios, Alex Baena, Pablo Fornals.

Forwards: Mikel Oyarzabal, Yeremy, Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Samu, Borja Iglesias

Spain take on Georgia on Saturday, November 15th in Tbilisi and then head home to face Turkey in Seville on the following Tuesday.
