Barcelona issue Eric Garcia injury update after defender suffers broken nose

Barcelona have confirmed that Eric Garcia suffered a broken nose on Wednesday in the Champions League draw with Club Brugge.

Eric suffered the injury late on in the game and is now set to be fitted with a mask. It has previously been reported he won’t play against Celta, but Barca have not yet ruled him out of Sunday’s match.

“First-team player Eric Garcia has suffered a nasal fracture. He will be fitted with a protective mask and his recovery will determine his availability for the upcoming match against Celta,” read a club statement.

Barcelona have returned home from Belgium under something of a cloud after a performance that highlighted their defensive flaws.

Hansi Flick has once again come in for criticism for his famous high line, and he will want a response from his players on Sunday at Balaidos.

It remains to be seen if Eric will be passed fit in time for the game, although Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi and Andreas Christensen should be available.
