‘The best of all of them’ – Lionel Messi says Barcelona were lucky to have Pep Guardiola

Lionel Messi has been talking about Pep Guardiola in a new interview and says his former Barcelona coach is the very best of all.

The two legends of the game achieved extraordinary success at Barcelona and Messi explained what sets Guardiola apart from the rest.

“For me, Guardiola is unique,” he told ESPN

“There are extraordinarily good coaches, but he has something different. For me, he’s the best of all of them.”

“When it comes to seeing things, preparing for matches, and communicating with the players, he’s very complete.

“He’s the best, and we were lucky to have him at Barcelona. He got together with the players we had and the right pieces came together for what he intended, to achieve everything that was achieved.

Guardiola is currently with Manchester City, where he’s won 18 trophies so far, and is contracted to the club until 2027.

There’s been talk over the years of a possible return to Barcelona, but Pep’s made it clear that won’t happen. He said earlier this year: “It’s over. It’s over forever. It was very beautiful, but it’s over now.”
