Barcelona president Joan Laporta says reports that Javier Tebas could be set to lose his job as La Liga president is “not good news” as relations between the two are improving.
The Sports Arbitration Tribunal (TAD) has opened an investigation into Tebas for disclosing confidential financial information about Barcelona, as reported by ARA.
The news comes after a complaint was made against Tebas by Miguel Galán, who is the president of CENAFE (the Spanish Confederation of Football Players).
If found guilty there’s a variety of sanctions he may face, including being removed from his position as La Liga chief.
Laporta has been asked about the situation and wasn’t too happy to hear that Tebas could lose his job.
“This was instigated by a group, I don’t know who. We spoke with the president of LaLiga at the time and this matter was resolved. I don’t think it’s good news right now, precisely because our relations with LaLiga are becoming increasingly normal. I don’t know where these attempts to oust the president of LaLiga are coming from. I don’t quite trust them,” he told El Suplement.
Mundo Deportivo report that Tebas’s actions “caused economic and reputational damage to FC Barcelona” and suggest penalties range from a reprimand, suspension or dismissal.
