‘La Liga is being corrupted’ – Real Madrid TV in fresh referee blast after losing top spot to Barcelona with Girona draw

Real Madrid TV has gone on the attack against La Liga referees once again in the wake of Los Blancos’ 1-1 draw with Girona on Sunday night.

The result means that Barcelona stay top of the table by one point, with both teams back in action in midweek in Spain’s top flight.

Xabi Alonso’s side needed a second-half penalty from Kylian Mbappe to rescue a draw against Girona, but the folk at Real Madrid were still furious with the officials after the match once again, per Marca.

“De Burgos has made egregious and unjustifiable errors against Real Madrid. He is the individual who has harmed them the most,” was the verdict on match referee Ricardo De Burgos.

“LaLiga is being corrupted. Real Madrid has four points deducted because of the Negreira brothers. De Burgos is one of the referees with the most egregious record against Real Madrid.

“There’s an irregularity because the VAR doesn’t call the referee . It happened in Vallecas and it happened in Girona. And it already happened last year when Real Madrid was six points ahead of Barcelona.

“There was the Espanyol incident, the Pamplona incident… and it’s happened again this year. Regardless of whether Real Madrid isn’t playing well, the reality is that the referees are tripping Real Madrid up, those who have to make the decisions are absent, and their president justifies them.  And who is the vice president of the Federation? Javier Tebas.”

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been critical of Real Madrid TV’s repeated criticism of match officials, saying earlier this season “They’re influencing the referees; it’s a strategy for winning that shouldn’t exist.”

In the meantime, there’s more La Liga action coming up in the next few days: Barcelona host Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, while Real Madrid face Athletic Club on Wednesday.
