Joan Garcia says he’d love to play with Lionel Messi at Barcelona

Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia says he’d love to see Lionel Messi return to the club and play alongside the GOAT at Camp Nou.

Messi has caused something of a stir this week by taking in a midnight visit to the club’s famous stadium, as it continues to undergo renovation work, and has talked about how much he misses Barca.

Garcia says it would be a dream to play with Messi at Barca but accepts it may not happen.

“Because of his playing style, Messi could keep playing as long as he wants. I’d love for him to come back and for me to play with him, but I don’t know if that will be possible,” he told RAC1.

The Barca stopper also spoke about the goalkeeping situation at the club as he returns to fitness. He’s taken over Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s starting spot but says there’s no problem between the players.

“There was no need for us to talk . It’s something that happens in many places, and it’s a matter between a player and the club. Nobody knows the full context from both sides. In the end, it was resolved in the best possible way. It’s something that happens anywhere there might be differences between the two parties, but in the end, it was sorted out,” he added.

“Any of the three of us can play. Obviously, I’m working to be the starter . I started playing and I worked to keep doing so. Now, when I return from injury, I intend to do the same . I’ll try to earn the starting spot and keep it until the end.”

Garcia is expected to return to action after the international break when Barcelona take on Athletic Club.
