‘I’m so happy to be back’ – Ronald Araujo delights in Camp Nou return with Barcelona

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo couldn’t hide his delight at being able to set foot back on the Camp Nou pitch once again.

The club held an open training session on Friday in front of 23,000 spectators at their renovated stadium and the Uruguay international loved it.

“I’m so happy to be back. It’s incredibly moving. It’s beautiful, and we have our fans,” he told the media.

“I was excited, I was telling my teammates when I came to Camp Nou. We know how imposing it is, and there are players who hadn’t played here before. We’re very happy with how it’s turning out. We can’t wait to come back.”

Marc Casado was also thrilled and is one of several Barca first-teamers looking forward to making his first appearance at the famous old stadium.

“We all feel at home here. The atmosphere has been incredible. The fans have been spectacular, even though it was just a training session,” he said.

“I haven’t played at the Camp Nou yet; I still have this dream that I hope will come true soon. It’s a whole different vibe being here. The pitch is spectacular, like everywhere else the club operates. The atmosphere has been incredible. And that’s even though it’s still not full.”

Casado may get his wish soon, with Barca hoping to play their first game back after the international break when they face Athletic Club.
