‘I’m not happy’ – Hansi Flick reveals Pedri ruled out of Barcelona’s clash with Villareal

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has confirmed that Pedri won’t play on Sunday against Villarreal after picking up a minor injury.

The loss of the midfielder for Barcelona’s final game of the calender year is a big blow, and Flick is not at all happy about the situation.

“No he’s not available. I am not happy about this, but it’s part of football. He’s injured, but I think for the next game he’ll be ready,” he told his pre-match press conference.

“He has hamstring problems, but the risk is very high. He could play, but the risk is high.

“We have to take care of him and make sure he gets treatment. We can’t take any risks. It’s the best thing to do right now. We need him for the upcoming matches against Espanyol and the Super Cup. We have to adapt because we have a lot of quality in the team.”

Pedri’s absence will be a huge blow for Barcelona as the Catalans try to close out the year with a win.

Barca head into the game four points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table. Los Blancos take on Sevilla in their final fixture of 2025 later on today.
