‘I learned to play smarter’ – Raphinha reveals how Hansi Flick brought the best out of him at Barcelona

Barcelona star Raphinha has showered manager Hansi Flick with praise and revealed how the German coach has brought out the best in him at Barcelona.

Raphinha has become a vital player for the Catalans, scoring 34 goals in 57 games as Barcelona picked up three trophies in Flick’s first season in charge.

The Brazilian has explained what makes the Barcelona manager so special.

“Hansi Flick has an incredible ability to see the potential in every player and bring out the best in all of us, both individually and collectively. With him, I learned to play smarter, to better understand space, to value reading the game, and to maintain tactical discipline without losing my creative freedom,” he told GQ Hype.

“Beyond that, he instilled a mentality of confidence and unity in the team. He has a way of conveying security, making everyone believe in their own worth and in the team’s work. That made a huge difference for me and the team as a whole because it allowed us to play with greater consistency, intensity, and determination.

“The result was that, under his leadership, we raised our level of play and achieved performances that previously seemed impossible. For me, working with Hansi was not only technical but also mental and emotional: he helped transform our confidence into action on the field.”
