Eric Garcia signs new Barcelona contract until 2031

Barcelona have confirmed that Eric Garcia has committed his future to the club and agreed a contract extension that runs until 2031.

The new deal has been in the works for a little while but has now been made official. Garcia will officially put pen to paper on his extension next week.

Here’s the club’s official statement:

“FC Barcelona and first team player Eric Garcia have reached an agreement to renew his contract for five more seasons, ending June 30, 2031.

“The official signing document will be sent on the proper day, December 11, at 1:30 p.m., in the office of the president of the Club, and subsequently the player will attend the communication meetings.”

The new deal seals an remarkable turnaround for Garcia at Barcelona. He had seemed destined for the exit door earlier this year but has since gone on to become a key player for Hansi Flick.

His versatility has been a big asset and is one of the reasons he is the only player in the first-team squad to feature in every La Liga game so far this season, starting 13 of 15 matches.
