Barcelona warned against complacency ahead of Club Brugge clash

Club Brugge manager Nicky Hayen has warned Barcelona against complacency ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League tie between the two sides.

Barcelona will be favorites heading into the match, but Hayen says his team are more than capable of upsetting Hansi Flick’s side.

“We are capable of doing it, in the last few games we have given a very good image and we are good in the league. We play with high pressure and we are going to go as far as we can. I’m sure we’re going to see a good game, we have very good weapons in the attacking line to hurt Barça,” he told reporters.

Hayen was also quizzed on the threat offered by Lamine Yamal and says he already has a plan in place to try and stop the Catalan giants.

“We have analysed their game. We always prepare well. Lamine is strong and it’s good to know what we have to do to stop him. We want to show what we are made of,” he added.

“He has a spectacular quality. But Barça is not only Lamine, but also the others. And we have to look at everyone and try to stop everyone. We have to be aggressive. Our game plan is to stop them and make chances. We will do everything we can to win. It’s a very special match. We know it. We admire Barça, and we know that to get the game ahead we have to be focused and play one hundred percent.”

Club Brugge were thumped 4-0 by Bayern Munich last time out in the competition, but Hayen says that defeat will serve as a wake-up call to his players.

“When we played in Munich we were not at our best,” he added. “It was a reality check. We will make some changes, but it has to be us. We are motivated. We have to play with a cool head, Barça should not be complacent.”
