Barcelona post dismal defensive stat against Club Brugge in Champions League

Barcelona have found clean sheets hard to come by so far this season and it was the same story on Wednesday night against Club Brugge in the Champions League.

The hosts needed less than six minutes to open the scoring against Hansi Flick’s side and then added a second on 17 minutes following another quick break.

The goal means that Barcelona are now on their worst run without a clean sheet for over a decade. The Catalans have conceded in their last nine games in a row and let in 14 goals during those matches.

It’s a record that Flick will hate to see and will no doubt bring more scrutiny on his famous high line.

Flick named an unchanged team for the game against Club Brugge, with Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde in defence ahead of Wojciech Szczęsny.

The Poland international is yet to keep a clean sheet since returning to the starting XI following Joan Garcia’s injury, and he may be set to return to the bench soon with Garcia closing in on a comeback.
