Barcelona hold ‘inital talks’ with Borussia Dortmund star Julian Ryerson

Barcelona are being credited with interest in Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson ahead of the January transfer window

According to Sky Sport Germany, Hansi Flick’s side want to strengthen their defence by bringing in the 28-year-old Norway international.

The report adds that “initial talks” have already taken place and that Barca are keen on Ryerson due to his ability to play on either side of the defence.

Ryerson is thought to be willing to leave Dortmund as he’s not a regular under Niko Kovac. He has made eight starts so far this season in the Bundesliga.

There’s no mention of whether Barca are aiming to go for Ryerson in the winter or the summer, but it’s previously been thought that the Catalans will have a very quiet January window.

Joan Laporta has insisted Barcelona do have the financial capacity to make transfers should they wish but has also claimed that the club will only spend “if necessary.”

Would Ryerson be a good signing for Barca? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
