Barcelona handed boost in Nico Schlotterbeck chase

Barcelona continue to be linked with a move for Nico Schlotterbeck and have reportedly been handed some good news in their hunt for the Borussia Dortmund defender.

According to Diario Sport, Schlotterbeck is really not keen on renewing at Dortmund, while some other interested clubs have now dropped their interest in the defender.

Schlotterbeck has apparently “ruled out the possibility of signing for Liverpool,” while Bayern are no longer interested as they would rather renew Dayot Upamecano’s contract.

The Catalans also hope that Hansi Flick could be a major factor in Schlotterbeck’s future. The German coach has worked with the defender before and has a good relationship with him.

Barcelona’s biggest problem in landing Schlotterbeck is likely to be price. The report adds that he’s valued at 40 million euros, a price that may be a problem for Barcelona – particularly for a player who will have only one year left on his contract by the time next summer rolls around.
