‘A joy to have him at Barcelona’ – Andres Iniesta admits he’s amazed by Pedri

Barcelona midfielder Pedri has long made it clear that Andres Iniesta is his idol but the club legend has now revealed just how highly he rates the young midfielder.

Pedri has been described as a mix of Iniesta and Xavi this season by Paul Scholes and the World Cup winner says he has been amazed by the 23-year-old’s performances for Barca.

“Pedri is Pedri. He’s not a mix of anything. He has his own qualities, his own strengths, his own strengths to keep growing and improving because he’s a very young guy, even though he’s a key player for Barça and the national team,” he told Marca.

“The beautiful thing about him is that if you watch him on TV, you’re amazed by what he does, how effortlessly, simply, and naturally he does it. It’s a joy to have him at Barça for the fans and on the national team for all Spaniards.”

Barcelona and Pedri are back in action on Saturday in La Liga with their penultimate La Liga game of the season against Osasuna.
