Joan Garcia expected to be fit to face Eintracht Frankfurt after Barcelona injury scare

Barcelona are expected to have goalkeeper Joan Garcia fit and available for Tuesday’s Champions League tie with Eintracht Frankfurt at Camp Nou.

The stopper was spotted limping off the team bus after Saturday’s win over Real Betis and trained in the gym on Sunday after the game.

However, according to Diario AS reporter Javi Miguel, all is fine with the stopper. Miguel posted on X: “Joan Garcia is not worried. Just a knock. He’ll train with the rest of the goalkeepers tomorrow.”

The news will be a boost for Hansi Flick and his side as they prepare to face the Bundesliga side. Frankfurt head into the game after a 6-0 thrashing by RB Leipzig and with injury problems in attack.

Michy Batshuayi was forced off injured at half-time of that match, while Jonathan Burkardt is also expected to miss the game through injury.

Manager Dino Toppmoller was also very critical of his players after the heavy defeat on Saturday and even apologised to fans.

“The margin of victory for Leipzig is deserved because of a dismal second performance from us,” he told reporters. “We lacked sharpness in the duels, and it was far too easy for Leipzig.

“Overall, it was a very, very poor performance, for which we apologise to our travelling fans, who once again gave us tremendous support.”
