Barcelona stars discover opponents as World Cup 2026 draw made

Barcelona’s stars have discovered who they will face in the group stages of World Cup 2026 after the draw for next summer’s competition was made in Washington on Friday.

Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad is likely to be dominated by Barcelona players, with stars such as Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Pau Cubarsi, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez all set to be involved.

Spain are in Group H and will take on Ronald Araujo’s Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and Cabo Verde.

Uruguay and Spain have met each other twice previously at the World Cup, with the two previous encounters ending in draws: 2-2 in 1950 and 0-0 in 1990.

Here’s a look at the draw in full:

As you can see, there are some tasty games to look forward to in Group I as Jules Kounde’s France come up against Senegal, Erling Haaland’s Norway and the winner of Fifa Play-off 2 (Iraq, Bolivia or Surinam)

Raphinha’s Brazil also have some exciting fixtures to look forward to after being drawn against Morocco, Scotland and Haiti, while defending champions Argentina are up against Algeria, Austria and Jordan.
