‘We’ve seen where Barcelona struggle’ – Carles Alena eyeing victory over former side with Alaves

Former Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena will face his old team on Saturday when Hansi Flick’s take on Alaves in La Liga.

Barca head into the match after a disappointing midweek defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League and will be hoping to bounce back.

Alena says that his team know where to hurt Barcelona and hope to do some damage on Saturday afternoon.

“I always think that it’s never a good time to go to the Camp Nou. I think Barça have been having a great season. They’ve had setbacks, but it is still the same team, the same approach, the same coach,” he told Sport.

“It’s going to be a very difficult match. They will want to turn the situation around, calm down a bit, but we have also seen where Barça suffer, where they can be hurt and we are going to try to make things difficult.

“To hurt a team like that, above all you have to play a perfect game. We have to look for spaces, so that they don’t feel comfortable when they have the ball. You can also have the personality to play in their half, to try to have the ball, because if not it is a team that submits you a lot, that creates chances for you, with world-class players.”

Barcelona do possess an excellent record against Alaves and have won 13 and drawn two of their last 15 LaLiga matches against the Basque side.
