Luis Suarez has revealed the advice he gives to compatriot Ronald Araujo about how to cope with life at Barcelona.
Araujo has had to cope with his fair share of criticism during his time with the Catalan giants, and Suarez has revealed the huge demands that Barcelona players have to learn to cope with.
He told Sport: “Sometimes, when I talk to Ronald Araujo I tell him. When he scores goals or when he wins something, I tell him, remember, people have no memory and every three days they are going to demand the same from you, and that’s what happens to him, he has to perform every game between an 8 and a 10 because if not the people will already ask him. It’s what Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético demand of you. Be at a high level and constantly.”
Suarez was then quizzed further on whether Araujo can cope with the pressure and answered: “It depends on him. Criticism is the order of the day, it is constant. What I said at the beginning, that criticism sells more than praise. Praise is sometimes nice, but people buy criticism more.”
Barcelona’s defence has certainly been in the spotlight in recent weeks, with Araujo battling for a place in the starting XI with Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia.
