Barcelona share Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo update ahead of Elche clash

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick offered an update on Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo ahead of their La Liga clash with Elche.

The duo have been back in training this week and will be included in Flick’s side for their next league match.

Here’s what the Barcelona boss had to say about their potential involvement in the game.

“With Lewy and Dani, we have to see how long they can play, how they adapt and then we will decide about the next games at Club Brugge and Celta Vigo,” Flick told a pre-match press conference.

“When you don’t have every player able to play, it’s not easy to manage everything or to get the other [players] on their best level.

“What I can see now, with Lewy and Dani back, the last two trainings were very good. It’s not only that they increase their level or the quality, it’s that the others do as well, also the young players.”

The return of the two players will be a big boost to Flick as he continues to cope with a host of injury problems in Catalunya.

Flick will be without Pedri now for several weeks, after he sustained a hamstring tear and joined Joan Garcia, Raphinha, Gavi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the injured list.

Andreas Christensen is also still unavailable after picking up a fresh injury in training.

The injury situation means that several Barca Atletic youngsters were with the first-team on Saturday. Mamadou Mbacke, Dro Fernandez and Xavi Espart were all spotted on the training ground ahead of the game against Elche.
